Family Plot, my first novel

Synopsis:  As World War I ends, high school senior Orin Dawes' girlfriend, Dimple Deribus (de REE bus) is found murdered in the hay loft of her father's stable in Ramsfield, IL.  Who killed her?  Orin knows.  But he isn't saying.

Orin soon meets Ruby Somers, the daughter of nomadic tent preacher Rev. Jimmy.  Ruby's psychic gift helps ease Orin's terminally ill mother's pain.  And Ruby can read people's sins, too.  Rev. Jimmy, whose penchant for helping young women find Jesus with him naked in the woods, feels threatened by his daughter's gift and bans her from his revivals.

When Orin's mother dies, she is buried in the Dawes Family Plot at the edge of the farm.  Orin is now free to marry Ruby, and they start a family.  Over the next twenty years the family's dairy herd multiplies, and fifteen children, named alphabetically from Adalia to Orinthal, Jr., provide hands to milk the cows.

Orin, Ruby, and their children have dark secrets of murder, arson - and worse - that sit like mute ghosts at the edge of consciousness.

Family Plot has been reissued, and you can order it in paper or as an e-book from amazon.com,  bn.com, or your local indie bookstore.
